Farmland: Crushing the stone or removing the stones?

Recent studies have demonstrated the advantages of clearing the land of stones instead of crushing the stone.

Crushing the stone means leaving the existing stone on the same ground, simply fragmented. This has consequences that will affect the property forever:

– The size of the crushed stone will be in many of the fragments with a diameter greater than 20mm.

– Fragments of some types of stone can be very sharp, and can cause punctures in the wheels.

There are rocks or conglomerate formations made up of certain minerals that, once crushed and mixed with soil, can render the land infertile and unproductive. One of these minerals, found in many rocks, is calcium or limestone, which can cause chlorosis (a lack of chlorophyll) in crops.
